Bhagavad Gita

The Bhagavad Gita is a scriptural poem from the greater Mahabrhata text, which in turn is from the Hindu Upanishads, which come from the ancient Vedic text. A monk came up to my boyfriend while he was waiting for me to finish work (at the Newtown Cafe). Anyway, he originally was trying to talk to my boyfriend about becoming a monk. However, when my BF told him he had a girlfriend the monk admitted that it might make things harder. Anyway, my BF gave the monk a donation and the monk gave my BF a copy of the Gita, which I had been looking for, for a long time! As he left the monk told my boyfriend not to have too many babies.
I don’t really know why?
So, anyhoo, I was very happy when (after a long day, frustrated buses and an almost asthma attack) I got a very happy surprise present!
If you are at all interested in Hindu religions you should look at this text.
Leonard Cohen references it in his doco “I’m Your Man.”
There is also a film version.
Nice posting. Do you know about this edition of the Gita?

i just got my gita4free from gita4free.com
It’s an abbreviated version but has the chapter references if you want to read the extended one. I read it all last night.
It is a really good introduction to the bigger text.
Probably the most agreeable scripture I’ve read so far, (I am by the way a Religious Studies Major)
THanks for the comment. Nice to know people are reading!
